In April our school held the XVI City Orthographic Competition. Over twenty third-graders from different primary schools in Białystok tackled a dictation full of orthographic pitfalls. Nieopodal, przerzedzony, jarmuż, gżegżółki, rzępoli - are just a few examples of them.
As you know, this month is our school´s birthday, April 19th. In this occasion, like last year, we had a cakes´s contest. The families made a lot of birthday cakes. First of all, all students passed for the lunch room seeing the cakes, and later, students, teachers, and parents we ate them. It was a very nice day for all of us. By the way.... we are already eight years old.
TURKEY 23rd April National Sovereignty and Children's Day in Turkey
Turkey commemorate the first gathering of the Grand National Assembly (the Turkish Parliament), which took place on April 23, 1920, by attending local ceremonies or laying wreaths at monuments of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The founder of the Turkish Republic.Ataturk dedicated the Turkish Republic to children, Turkish schoolchildren take seats in the Parliament for the day and symbolically govern the country. They elect a president who then addresses the country on national television. Children’s festivals take place throughout the country. The state-run Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) brings children, aged eight to 14, from different countries around the world to Turkey. These children stay with Turkish families for a week and participate in children’s festivals, which culminate is a gala-performance on April 23. We also celebrate this day every year in our school. Children read poems, sing songs and perform dances. Below are the pictures from the ceremony at our school.
We had a celebration dedicated to the heroes of EOKA(National Organisation of Cypriot Fighters) that died during the fight against the British conquers in the period of 1955-59. The fight led to Cyprus independence and to the creation of Cyprus democracy.
