The“Istituto Comprensivo Casteldaccia” is a public school located in a village not far from sea but basically agricultural, called Casteldaccia, 15 km from Palermo in Sicily. Our school has 80 teachers, one headmaster, two assistant headmasters, 20 administrative people and caretakers, and about 700 students. It is a Primary and Secondary school. The pupils are between 5-14 years old. We also have 6 pre-primary classes (pupils between 3-5 years old). Our school has 28 classrooms, a computer room, a science laboratory, a language and an art laboratory, a small library and an indoor and outdoor gym. All the classrooms have got LIMs (smart boards). Our school is attended by children from different social levels. There are also many children belonging to immigrant families. We have several disable students who are fully integrated into all aspects of our school life. One of the aims of our school is that to create an ambiance to improve intercultural dialogue and tolerance between new generations . On this purpose there is a UNICEF staff of children who welcome the entrance of new students and in particular for immigrants or strangers and who work on curricular projects.
