Erasmus+ Joint Staff Training Meeting in Periferiako Demotiko Sxoleio Peristeronas in Peristerona, Cyprus
During the week between the 28th of November and the 2nd of December our school held a 5-days Joint Staff Training Meeting for the purposes of the Erasmus+ project “Inspiring Schools – Aspiring Students”, in which we participate. 19 teachers from Spain, Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria and Poland participated in the meeting which its main purpose was to educate, through various workshops, teachers on IT applications and the role and actions of the Student Parliament. Our guests were toured around the school, met our students and told them a few things about their countries. They also watched an artistic event that included traditional songs, tales and dances of Cyprus, presented by our students. A visit to the House of Representatives was also organized and Mr. Demetris Demetriou, a member of the Cypriot parliament, talked to them about the participation of young children in civic life. Every school was given the chance to present its Student Parliament’s schedule and we got ideas from each other. Also during the meeting, the upcoming meeting in Spain was discussed. Besides workshops the meeting also included some sightseeing so as to get our guests in touch with our islands history and culture. Our guests toured Peristerona and the old town of Nicosia. They also traveled to Larnaca to visit the old church of Saint Lazarus, the church of Panagia Aggeloktisti and Hala Sultan Tekke.
